Liquor POS by Heartland

Quick Facts

Liquor POS, as the name suggests, is a POS system specific to the wine and spirits industry (though there's also a sister software called Merchant POS used by other types of retailers).  The software was originally created by Merchant Software Corp., but it was acquired by Heartland Payment Systems in February 2014.

Both under Merchant Software and Heartland, Liquor POS has generally been sold and distributed through resellers--not unlike Microsoft's RMS.

How BevSites Integrates

Liquor POS is another system that BevSites has worked with for over a decade, with our first project leveraging an inventory integration being completed in early 2006.  Since then, we've worked with numerous stores that rely on the system.  It's also worth noting that we can just as easily integrate with the sister software, Merchant POS, as well.

Reading Inventory Updates

Regardless of what sort of POS support/vendor the store has for their Liquor POS system, BevSites can read inventory updates directly from the software and into our web platform.  This includes multiple price fields, volume discount pricing (e.g. 2 for $10), and non-discountable item flags.  More or less any fields in the item details screens of Liquor POS are fair game for integration.

Importing Processed Web Orders (Closing the Loop)

This is another situation where a reseller's participation is required.  While BevSites can generate processed order update files in a few different formats, someone supporting the POS still must integrate and import this data back into the system.
