After that state’s Law Review Commission concluded that NY’s State Liquor Authority (SLA) was fundamentally broken, the agency has been included in the first round of a state agency review process by Governor Patterson.
The Governor recently signed “Executive Order 25, which requires state agencies to conduct a review of their regulations to identify those that impose unnecessary, duplicative or unduly burdensome costs, paperwork or other requirements.” In an email notice about the review Thomas J. Donohuem counsel to the Authority,  points out that “… independent of this project, the agency is also conducting its own review of its regulations which may lead to the adoption of new regulations or the elimination or modification of existing rules beyond the scope of Executive Order 25.”
As indicated on the SLA’s website “Public comment must be received on or before December 31, 2009 and may be submitted in writing to: Paul Karamanol, Esq., New York State Liquor Authority, Office of Counsel, 80 South Swan Street, Suite 900, Albany, NY 12210 or electronically at pkaramanol@abc.state.ny.us and copied to the Governor’s Office of Regulatory Reform at EO25@gorr.state.ny.us.”
